The Department of Family Services’ (DFS)
mission is to promote the safety, well-being and self-sufficiency of families through community partnerships. Local DFS offices can help qualifying families with supplemental nutrition assistance (SNAP), child support enforcement, Medicaid, child care assistance and other needed services in their communities. Our goal is to connect people with time-limited resources that promote healthy, safe, self-sufficient families so they can contribute to their communities.
If you are a parent in Wyoming, you may be wondering how child support works in this state. Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as child support arrangements can vary depending on the unique circumstances of each case. However, there are some general things that all parents should know about child support in Wyoming.
One of the most important things to understand about child support in Wyoming is that it is based on the income of both parents. This means that if one parent earns significantly more than the other, they may be required to pay more in child support. Additionally, child support payments may be modified if a parent’s income changes over time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that child support payments are typically required until a child turns 18 years old. However, in some cases, payments may continue until a child turns 19 or even 21 years old. This is usually only the case if the child is still attending high school or has special needs.
