Oregon Department of Justice Division of Child Support (DCS)
“Raising and supporting children isn’t easy—and it’s harder when you’re on your own. Every day, the Oregon Child Support Program helps more than 450,000 parents provide the financial and emotional support their children need. The Program processes about $1 million a day in medical and child support for our youngest and most vulnerable Oregonians, and is one of the most cost-effective and efficient agencies in the state.
Through the Department of Justice Division of Child Support, and the work of many District Attorney offices, the Oregon Child Support Program offers services that improve the well-being of children, reduce reliance on public assistance, encourage family self-sufficiency, return funds to the state treasury, and save taxpayer money.
As the director of Oregon’s Child Support Program, I’m committed to continuing our tradition of dedicated public service – supporting parents to support children.” — Katie Cooper Richardson, Director
Overview
Child support in Oregon is based on the Oregon Child Support Guidelines. These guidelines take into account both the income of the parents and the needs of the children. The amount of child support you owe will be calculated using these guidelines.
If you are a non-custodial parent, you are required to pay child support. The amount of child support you owe will be based on your income and the number of children you have.
The Oregon Child Support Program can help you make or enforce child support payments. If you are behind on your payments, you may be subject to wage garnishment or other enforcement actions.
The Oregon Child Support Program can help you with questions about:
- Establishing paternity
- Establishing a child support order
- Modifying a child support order
- Enforcing a child support order
- Collection and disbursement of child support payments
If you are a custodial parent, you can also receive assistance with:
- Locating a non-custodial parent
- Establishing paternity
- Establishing or modifying a child support order
- Enforcing a child support order
- Collecting and disbursing child support payments
